Flashback Friday: Fifi

Fifi

Made in 2007
Pattern: Fifi by French Girl
Yarn: Rowan Calmer
Original Post

This was the knit that first introduced me to my SFAM (sister from another mother) Nonnahs! As we began to read each others blogs and view our notebooks and saved projects we found we had the exact same taste! So of course when I saw her Fifi I loved it so much that I immediately casted on one for myself.

Moulin Rouge

I still have this knit and will throw it on every once in a while. It is a great top down seamless tee. Perfect for that cool Fall day when all you need is a kiss of warmth.

Leaf Lace Pullover

Made in January 2007
Leaf Lace Pullover by Teva Duhram (from Loop-D-Loop)
Sheep Shop 2 (now discontinued!)
US 11 (8.0mm)

In reviewing Teva's new Loop-d-Loop book I started thinking about other things I've knit from her. Perfect for Flashback Friday, this was the sweater that made me fall in love with Teva Durham! It was also one of the quickest sweaters I've ever done.

What's so cool about this sweater is it's construction. You work the top and then the bottom seperately and graft them together in the middle. I was pretty proud that you couldn't *quite* see where it was seamed unless you really were looking for it. It amazed me so much how Teva could think outside of the box like that. Again, the pure artist in her.

The yarn I made it in was Sheep Shop 2. When Patricia got her first shipment of Sheep Shop, I had immediately connected the yarn to this project. It's too bad that since then the yarn and company are now defunct.

I am excited to knit something from her new book, which is chock full of great designs like this one.

Happy Knitting!

Beauty of Nature

Look Up.

I went to Muir Woods for the first time this week. I was in sheer awe of the beauty and height of the trees we saw. It is humbling to know how long these trees have been in existence.

I don't have links this weekend BUT Belfast Hoodie is blocking and I hope to show you all soon.

OK, I got just one link: Gotta love The Sartoralist!

Moulin Rouge

This top goes perfect with a nice glass of red sangria.  I’m not too good with the whole "FO evaluation" but I’ll give it a go! The pattern was very well written and the only modification I had was using a tigher gauge.  I had knitted up a swatch with 7s that was a tinge tighter than the required and as you all know over a few glasses of champagne I decided to give it a go because like Nonnahs said – "You can always try it on and adjust as you go!"  Which I did! At first I was worried because it did look smaller but when I tried it on it fit like a glove – the beauty of top down patterns!

Moulin Rouge

I’ve used calmer before in the "Nothing but a T-shirt" shirt I made.  It has such a great give and it’s oh so soft. I am definiteiloy planning on knitting more tops with that stuff… so soft.  And to think I finally have something to show for Project Spectum – welcome June the month of Reds!!

Fifi

And thank you for the well wishes regarding Italy!  I’m going from June 20th to July 4th.  Howevern, I am going as a chaperone so it’s really going to be more a "work" trip.  I will have to deal with 40 teenage girls probably staying up all night, then wandering around the Italian streets driving the locals crazy the next morning.  I’m also the youngest chaperone, so they all think that I will be the one with the amazing energy (ha!).   Although I cannot lie, since I’ve never been you so know that I’m going to be as starry eyed as the girls walking in to the Sistine Chapel.

Our itenerary is packed with walking tours and sightseeing  but we get a few beach days! (Capri!) You best believe I will be taking hundreds of pics while there.  I figure this trip will allow me to see all the important parts of Rome and south so that next time I go I can just enjoy the cities without having to feel I need to do the tourist thing.

Thank you always for poping by the blog! I does sometimes amaze me that I actually have readers! (yea!!) It really has proven to be such a wonderful way to connect to new people and the positive and creative vibes it creates is so phenominal!

I hope everyone enjoys their weekends!
