quite the imagination

I’m really quite good at pretending…

Pretending that I can design tops, knit projects, teach, write well a thought out and hopefully witty post and do my day job all in the span of 24 hours. Not to mention getting it all done before the snow melts into summer.  I am currently wrapped up in a project I can’t quite blog about and all I want to do is blog, show you pictures and tell you about all the fast crazy knitting I’ve been doing.  But I must hit the pause botton on that and rather I’ll discuss all the other rumblings of my mind.

I have a friend from the LYS Ann, who’s eye for knits correspond very closely to my own.  We’ve made a lot of similar tops and find that we always pick out the same ones in new pattern books.  Just yesterday she introduced me to the Claudia-Evilla skirt that she saw on the Yarn Harlot’s blog – a skirt that made even the Harlot order yarn!  I read the Harlot from time to time but not extensively but like her I too am not a fan of knitting skirts but once seeing this  clicked directly to the designer, Ruth Soresen’s site and ordered it up!  Knowing that this skirt probably won’t be casted on until late May (maybe!) I’m thinking of using a cotton or linen yarn.  I also am dreaming of it having the color gradually change down the skirt like the Twinkle Incredible Skirt (Ravelry Link) but not sure how that will look with the lacy pattern of the bottom.

I have also been dreaming about designing sweaters (as per my former post which was totally and a bit embarrassingly pre-published before I could finish writing it).  This is my first attempt at making something fit myself first from scratch – lots of notes have been taking and sketches drawn but no stitches casted on…

I’ve also finally received yarn from a friend for my Phildar top (yup haven’t forgotten about that either).

I keep saying to myself – oh you’ll get it done in no time and yet here I am still in the midst of my project, stealing some knitting time at the office and taking as much as I can before my lids can no longer stay open at night.  I feel a little out of the loop from the blogs – as if I am outside of a fence watching everyone else play on the swingset.  But I must be patient because once all this is done I can also pretend to see myself swinging higher and higher ,too, face in the sun smiling at all of my knitting goodness.

I’m dreaming of a top.  A pretty short sleeved, spring, square neck top – that I will be creating when my time opens up.  As of right now I"m knitting away on a "secret project" and once I’m done I will be getting in to full design mode for this top.  My LYS just got in her Summer Rowan and I’ve fallen in love with the Bamboo Soft yarn.

It’s sooo soft, has a great drape but it’s not that easy to work with. However, if you can make it work it really has a lovely shimmer to it, but new knitters beware – it will show mistakes.

Ok, that’s my brief post of today! Sorry about that previous weird post! I didn’t really meant to press the Publish Button!

ETA: OMG! I totally was writing that as a "Draft" and never meant to press the post button! haha I’m glad you guys liked it anyway!

the next best thing…

I swear I’ve been knitting even though it seems I have nothing to show for it!   I have a finished Tilted Duster that’s growing impatient with me and my need to have a great photoshoot with light better than what 4 o’clock is giving me these days!  I do need to sew some buttons on it and we all know how that goes. (When was TY finished? November? And yet STILL no buttons?)

But hopefully what I have in store for you today will make you forget my lack of knitting content.  Dogs!

I have been in a Doggy Dog Heaven these past 3 days.  First, I visited my friend Torry over the weekend and got to meet her very special pup, Cocoa.  She’s a mostly mixed Chocolate Lab with a hind legs of a grey hound.  No joke I think she ran a 2min mile around her dog park!

She’s a goregous and good tempered dog who makes want to adopt a dog today… so sad that my apartment won’t allow them!

AND Then yesterday I had my very first experience at the great Westminster Dog Show!  I went with a few co-workers of mine to see the benching area last night right before the Hound Group was showing.

I was surrounded by Dogs.

And more CUTE Dogs.

Dog Show 035

Boy were those dogs were so cute! Some got there at 3am to compete all day and then had to hang out and meet Crazy Dog Lovers like myself! 😉  Some loved the attention while others just peeked open an eye to say, "yeah that’s nice, people tell me the LOVE me all the time – I"m tired and just want to sleep!

Here’s the now famous, Uno, just before he went out to claim the first prize in the Hound Group – the first in 69 years for this breed!

What that Beagle was the cutest I’ve ever seen it was no match for my favorite – the German Shepherd!

My grandmother had one just like it named Cali.  I used to ride Cally as a 2 year old and she just loved us.  I know if I were to get  a dog I would love it to be a GS!  I mean Look at those Ears!!

Anyway, I had the best time there and was SO Surprised and Delighted to read that Stacey’s doggy mama, Deuce was the one that won the Herding Group!! What a fantastic night!

SO i hope you love the dog shots and I promise more knitting content soon! I have a few tricks up my sleeve so your patience will be well worth it – i hope! 😉
